酔独楽/YOIGOMA, from the intuition and skill of a master craftsman
YOIGOMA sake cups are made individually by carving each one with a woodworking wheel. Carving the inner and outer cone while maintaining the thinness of the cup requires the intuition and skill of a craftsman who understands the characteristics of the wood and the tools. After carving, a urethane coating is carefully applied by a lacquer artist by applying a brush while turning the wheel. The colors are chosen, and paints are prepared to balance the design of the YOIGOMA. Humidy, temperature and the number of coats are all factors in achieving the desired color. At every step, the skills of the craftsmen shine through. The result is a completely unique and carefully-crafted sake cup which will make your celebrations with loved ones memorable.
