PENON Inc. is a stationery and general goods manufacturer established in January 2021. Starting with the planning and manufacturing of wooden ballpoint pens, the company also produces items such as postcards and magnets.
One of its signature products is the “Travel Magnet.” Featuring the landscapes, cultures, and historical buildings of all 47 prefectures as motifs, they are crafted like tiles measuring approximately 4.7 cm square. Priced at 700 yen, they are set to be easily accessible even for students on school trips. This series is generally not sold online, it is intended to be encountered and purchased as a souvenir at the travel destination.

Philosophy & Vision
The core of our craftsmanship at PENON is creating products that are loved for a long time and remain in people's hands. Behind this is our founder’s experience in the food industry, having witnessed products being discarded despite having remaining shelf life because they did not meet strict trading conditions. Therefore, with the aim of creating “things that retain their value over time,” the company was established in the field of stationery, a personal passion of our founder.
Another feature is that our consideration for the environment is reflected in our choice of materials.
We use certified wood for our wooden ballpoint pens. Our postcards are made from materials such as wood scraps and offcuts. Even for the Travel Magnet, we incorporate ideas to reduce waste into our products, such as selecting materials that reuse clay discarded during tile production.

Creator's Commitment
Making the Travel Magnet begins with depicting regional charm from a local perspective.
For each prefecture, the design is handled by an illustrator who lives in or has a connection to that area. They propose landscapes and cultural elements they personally want to showcase, translating them into designs. We sometimes incorporate subjects unique to the local area, not limited to famous landmarks.
In the production process, we collaborate with a workshop in Onagawa, Miyagi Prefecture, manually creating the tile expression one by one while referencing the designs. After that, they are processed into approximately 4.7 cm squares at our factory, and we manage the entire manufacturing process in-house, from printing to attaching the magnets on the back and packaging.
